What’s SHFE?
The Sunny Hills
Foundation for Education (SHFE) is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational
organization founded by Sunny Hills High School (SHHS) parents that is
dedicated to raising funds to improve the High School’s academic, artistic,
and athletic programs.
Why a
Foundation?
Being a great school
is not an accident. Virtually all of the best high schools now have
foundations to raise money to supplement public funds. This includes Brea
High, Fullerton High, and Troy High in our own area. The foundation board
is committed to providing resources that help students attain academic
excellence and build life-long skills to become responsible contributing
citizens.
The last few years have been the most competitive years in history for
college admissions and we believe that colleges and universities will
continue to receive record numbers of applications. SHFE wants to ensure
that SHHS students are prepared.
Sunny Hills High School’s public funding is approximately 10% below the
state average. To excel in a highly technological and competitive world,
SHHS needs additional sources of funds.
What’s the
Money For?
The money raised by
the foundation will be used to purchase equipment and supplies for
academic, athletic, and art departments at Sunny Hills. Donations for
special projects are also accepted.
Who Decides
What to Buy?
The foundation’s
board will use the money to purchase items based on a prioritized wish list
provided by SHHS Principal and his department heads.
Who Will
Donate?
SHFE hopes that you
will, but if you can’t, try to solicit a donation from your business or
employer. They are more likely to help us if you approach them directly.
Ideally, you’ll make a contribution and your employer will match it (many
do).
How Can My
Business Help?
If your business or
employer has products or services to donate and would like some exposure in
the community, please contact SHFE. We’ll make sure that your business
receives the recognition that it deserves.
What About
PTSA?
SHFE will work
closely with the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) and other
support groups and booster clubs at Sunny Hills. We encourage you to
continue to support these organizations.
