President's Message
Welcome!
With another new school year around the corner, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome both new and returning Lancer families.
Sunny Hills High School holds a very unique place in the Fullerton School District. The Lancer name bears a strong legacy as being both a highly acclaimed academic institution as well as a close-knit neighborhood school. Sometimes the neighborhood aspect is overlooked and undervalued. As the parent of a current Sunny Hills student as well as two Sunny Hills alumni, one a graduate of Stanford University and the other currently attending Boston College, I can honestly say that my family is part of the extended family of the Sunny Hills community and I am grateful for the support we have received and the friendships we have made.
It is in the spirit of giving back to the Sunny Hills community that the Sunny Hills Foundation for Education was originally formed in 2006. Our original group of twelve parents has now expanded to eighteen. We are excited to have these new volunteers and encourage anyone interested in participating to come to our next Foundation meeting. Meetings are held at 9 a.m. on the third Wednesday of the month in room 1 at Sunny Hills.
Our Fall 2008 issue of Lancer Pride is full of accomplishments that were made possible this year through the generosity of the Sunny Hills’ parents and local business community. We thank all of you who made a donation of your time or money for bringing about these improvements at Sunny Hills.
Look in your mailbox this October for our Annual Fundraising Campaign brochure. Your contributions are more important than ever with the district budget cuts that have taken place. Every gift is used directly to benefit the students and classrooms. Please give generously and help keep Sunny Hills a leading school in the community.
Thank you,
Scott Daniel
